Our Events

Grateful Heart Productions has been inspired by the Holy Spirit, our love for God and respect for horses.  With all the events we will offer, our goal is to bring people and their horses to a higher level of communication, mutual respect, and

cooperative development.  To us, this is what it means to Honor the Horse and Glorify God.

Martin Black: World Renown Great Basin Cowboy

GHP  welcomes Martin Black to central Texas for a Horsemanship and Cow Working clinic.  Martin Black grew up in the Great Basin region where he learned horsemanship and stockmanship working with his dad, uncles, and grandfather.  Martin had exceptional opportunities to work closely with many top horsemen and bridlemen in the Great Basin, including Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt, and Charlie and Bill Van Norman.

In all of his work with horses and people, Martin strives for excellence in the Vaquero tradition of horsemanship and is willing to share his knowledge and experience with those who seek to become more skilled horsemen and develop a greater understanding of feel, timing, and balance from their horse's point of view.

Our clinic will focus on Martin's expertise and experience with teaching Horsemanship and Cow Working.  Participants will learn the fundamental skills of preparing their horses, and themselves, for cow working and practice those skills working cattle with other participants.

You're encouraged to visit Martin's web site at:

Future Events

The founders of Grateful Heart Productions hope that the opportunities we provide will both meet the practical skill development for people and their horses, as well as engender a deeper feel and understanding of the human and horse relationship.  While we will continue to have 3-day clinics each year with Lee Smith, Martin Black, and others, our plan is to also host opportunities to practice horsemanship while participating in one-day events like:  working cow horse; barrel racing; obstacle training; and horse and cow play days.
